Our Story
For more than 30 years, Machine Tech Services has manufactured precision components and specialty equipment from the heart of South Louisiana’s energy corridor.
What began as a machine shop grew into a full-service manufacturer — machining, fabrication, welding, engineering and specialty product development under one roof. Along the way, MTS developed purpose-built oilfield equipment, from modular wellhead recovery systems to completion and remediation equipment, engineered around what actually happens in the field.
That combination — a working shop floor plus real product engineering — is what lets Machine Tech take a project from a rough concept, a drawing or even a damaged sample all the way to a finished, production-ready component.

Machine Tech was founded in November 1992 by Billy Angers, a machinist with more than 40 years at the trade. For 33 years the shop has been the one the oilfield calls when the answer does not exist yet — wellhead equipment, downhole tools, well-control and recovery systems, and the emergency work nobody planned for.
That work produced inventions rather than just parts. The named US patents behind the product line list him as inventor, and the modular, stackable wellhead system came out of hurricane-damaged well recovery, where a conventional fixed wellhead meant the crew had to adapt to the hardware instead of the other way around.
Louisiana Oilman Magazine profiled Billy Angers and the Mud Bug wellhead recovery system in its OTC preview issue.

The Manufacturing Extension Partnership of Louisiana — the state’s NIST-affiliated manufacturing extension program — featured Billy Angers as its Face of Manufacturing for August 2018.
Federal contracting
Machine Tech Services is registered in the System for Award Management and verified by US Federal Contractor Registration, and is eligible to be awarded federal contracts.
A SAM registration must be renewed annually or the entity goes inactive and cannot be awarded a federal contract. The seal is dated 2026 and states no term of its own. Read the renewal date off sam.gov and record it as the expiry.
