What does Machine Tech Services do?

Machine Tech Services is a full-service machine shop and precision manufacturer in Broussard, Louisiana. We are a job shop, which means we make custom parts to order for any industry — CNC and manual machining, custom fabrication, welding, design and drafting, prototyping and reverse engineering. Our deepest experience is in oil and gas, but we manufacture for marine, industrial, OEM, agricultural, transportation and one-off customers alike. Does Machine Tech Services only work in oil and gas?

No. Machine Tech Services is a job shop and manufactures parts for any industry. Oil and gas is where we built our deepest experience and our patents, but we routinely machine and fabricate for marine, industrial plants, OEMs and equipment builders, agriculture, transportation, construction and prototype work. If it can be machined, we can make it — bring us the drawing, the sample or the broken part.

Yes. Send your drawing, model or specification and we will quote and manufacture to it. We accept PDF, STEP, STP, DXF, DWG and IGES files. If you do not have a drawing, we can also work from an existing sample.

Cost is built from material, setup time, run time on each machine, any outside processing, tooling and inspection. What is custom metal fabrication?

Custom metal fabrication is building a part or assembly from raw material — cutting, forming, welding and finishing — rather than machining it from solid stock. Machine Tech Services fabricates custom weldments, structural components and finished assemblies to your drawing or from a concept.

Can you machine and fabricate the same part?

Yes, and that is a real advantage. Because machining, fabrication, welding and inspection all happen under one roof in Broussard, a component can be machined, welded and verified without shipping between shops or splitting accountability.

Yes. Our in-house design and drafting takes a project from a concept, sketch or sample to a production-ready drawing, including the manufacturing plan. Because the people drafting the part also machine it, the design accounts for how it will actually be made.

Can you make a part if I do not have the drawing?

Yes. Bring Machine Tech Services the part, a sample or photos and we will measure, model and manufacture a production-ready component. This is common for obsolete or discontinued parts where the original drawings are long gone.

How does reverse engineering work?

There are three steps: you bring us the part or whatever documentation you have; we measure it, model it and plan the manufacturing; then we manufacture and inspect a production-ready component. You end up with a documented part you can reorder, not just a one-time copy.

Can you reverse engineer a broken or worn part?

Yes. Damaged and worn components are among the most common reverse-engineering jobs we take. We work from the remaining geometry, mating parts and your description of the application to restore the original intent.
