An NCR is a nonconformance report — the written record raised when a part or process does not meet its specification.

Also called: nonconformance report · non-conformance

In practice

It records what was found, on which part, how many, and what was decided: rework, scrap, repair, or use-as-is with the customer's written agreement. It is a document, not an accusation.

Why it matters

Shops that record every nonconformance can see which operations and materials actually generate their scrap. Shops that quietly fix problems learn nothing and repeat them.
