Threads are where a lot of parts fail, because a thread that is nearly right will still cross-thread, gall or leak. Pitch diameter, form and lead all have to be controlled, not just the major diameter.

We single-point thread on lathes rather than relying only on stock taps and dies, which is what allows us to cut custom pitches, oversized threads and worn-connection repairs.

Bring us the mating part and we can cut a thread that fits it, even if the original spec is unknown.

FAQ

Threaded Connections — Questions We Get

Can you cut a thread if I do not know the specification?

Usually yes. Bring us the mating part and we will determine the pitch, form and diameter from it, then cut a thread that fits. This is common on older and imported equipment where the original spec is not documented.

Can you repair a damaged thread on an existing part?

Often, yes. Depending on the damage we can clean up or re-cut the thread, or machine it oversize and fit a repair. Send photos or bring the part in and we will tell you what is realistic.
